Have you found yourself completely losing control of your emotions when someone cuts you off in traffic? Does your anger last for a long time, you are not able to let it go? Have you ever hit or damaged anything in your fits of anger? Has anyone ever told you they are afraid of you when you are angry? Have you ever been in a physical fight due to your temper? Has your anger caused you to become in trouble with the law?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions then our Anger Management Treatment Program here at the Scottsdale Neurofeedback Institute may be just for you. We have been using QEEG based EEG Neurofeedback to successively treat individuals with anger issues for nearly two decades!
Anger is a perfectly normal emotion when under control. It is indeed a very healthy emotion when dealt with in a positive way. Unfortunately though, uncontrolled anger is a huge problem which not only can be a problem to your health, but can lead to problems with your relationships and the law.
When anger management problems do not remediate with normal counseling and coaching and negative consequences such as work and family problems continue, it is valuable to evaluate for deeper issues. There are many disorders that can contribute to anger problems that may require accurate assessment and treatment, among them are some of the following;

In addition to common evaluation procedures such as clinical interviewing, rating scales, testing, family interviews, there is a way to see and measure brain dysfunction. We perform a QEEG topographic brain map which is painless and non-invasive. We place a cap with 19 electrodes on the scalp which picks up the brain electricity (EEG). The recorded EEG is processed through 6 normative databases including the New York University Medical School Normative Database. The statistical data demonstrates which abnormalities are present and the degree of severity.
These topographic brain maps significantly help in determining what underlying disorders and/or dysfunctions are contributing to the anger issues. We can then design a multi-model treatment plan to address the unique individual combination of issues and train abnormal EEG patterns causing such disorders as ADD or depression, toward normal, helping to reduce the energy behind the anger.
A mixture of treatments for each individual is recommended and might include any combination of the following;
